The City of Muskego adopted the Sustainable Economic Development Strategic Plan in 2003 as a strategy to balance its economic development objectives, while promoting sound environmental practice and protecting community aesthetics.

This concept, called economic sustainability, requires development to be:

• Fiscally pragmatic
• Market feasible
• Environmentally benign
• Targeted at growing economic sectors within the region

This plan was prepared by the citizens off Muskego, City Staff, and Vandewalle & Associates and The Taurean Group, LLC.

Since the plan's adoption, the City has implemented many of the key recommendations formulated in the plan.
