FEE SCHEDULE

ESTABLISHED BY THE MUSKEGO PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD

APPENDIX A OF THE LIBRARY BOARD POLICY

November, 2003

The Library Board sets all fees. These are reviewed annually, and a copy of the current fee schedule is appended to the Library Board policy. Standard or uniform prices are used for lost or damaged items, and may include the costs of replacement.

AUDIOBOOKS:

If individual lost/damaged tapes cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

Lost/damaged; minimum $10.00 each.

Audiocassette boxes: Current replacement cost.

A-V EQUIPMENT: $5.00 per day overdue fine.

"BIG BOOKS": $1.00 per day overdue fine.

BARCODE FROM INTERLOAN ITEM: $1.00 each.

BARCODE/PROTECTOR: Current replacement cost.

BINDERY: (i.e. sending a damaged item to): Patrons will be assessed bindery charges at current rates.

BOOKDROP RETURN: $1.00 fee for returning items which are marked “Do not return in bookdrop.”

CASSETTES:

Lost/damaged: minimum, $10.00 each.

Cassette cases: Current replacement cost.

COLLECTION AGENCIES: Fees assessed by collection agencies employed by the library will be passed on to the patrons involved.

COLLECTION AGENCY LETTER recipients will be assessed the current postage charges resulting from this mailing, a warning that an overdue account will be referred to an agency.

COMPACT DISCS:

Lost/damaged: minimum, $15.00 each. Each additional disc in a set, $10.00.

Crystal cases: Current replacement cost.

CD BOOKS:

If individual lost/damaged CDs cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

Lost/damaged; minimum $10.00 each.

Cases: Current replacement cost.

CD-ROMS:

Lost/damaged: adult, minimum, $35.00 each.

Lost/damaged: children’s, minimum, $30.00 each.

Crystal cases: Current replacement cost.

COMPUTER:

Disks: 3.5 floppies, $1.00 each

Printer output: 10 cents per page

COMPUTER SOFTWARE:

Lost/damaged: adult, minimum, $35.00 each.

Lost/damaged: children’s, minimum, $30.00 each.

Cases: Current replacement cost.

COPIES:

Computer printer output: 10 cents per page

Microform reader/printer: 15 cents per page

Photocopies: 10 cents per exposure

DAMAGE:

Animal damage (including cover): full price.

Animal damage (not including cover; still usable): half price.

A-V equipment - as described on the waiver form: if equipment is damaged while it is checked out, the user must pay for repair or replacement.

A-V materials: if unusable - full price.

Audiobooks: if unusable - full price. If individual damaged tapes cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

Barcode from interloan item: $1.00 each.

Book jackets: torn, missing, or re-taping - Current replacement cost.

"Big Books": if unusable - full price.

Clippings: if unusable, .50 each.

CD cases: Current replacement cost.

CD-ROMS: if unusable – adult, minimum, $35.00 each; children’s, minimum, $30.00 each. If individual damaged discs cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

Compact discs: if unusable – minimum, $15 each. If individual damaged discs cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

Computer software: if unusable - adult, minimum, $35.00 each; children’s, minimum, $30.00 each. If individual damaged disks cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

DVD cases: Current replacement cost.

DVDs: if unusable - $22.00. Each additional DVD, $10.00. If individual damaged discs cannot be replaced, the full set price will be charged.

E-Book reader: Current replacement cost.

Ink or pen markings on five pages or more which do not render book unusable: $3.00.

Interlibrary loans: Replacement costs are set by lending library.

Magazines, adult: If unusable - $4.50 each.

Magazines, children’s: If unusable - $3.00 each.

Missing pieces which can be replaced: the replacement price of the missing pieces. If pieces cannot be replaced: full price.

Pamphlets - if unusable, $2.50 each, unless actual price is available.

Pen/pencil, etc. marks which render book unusable: full price.

Plastic bags: Current replacement cost.

Pockets - torn or missing: Current replacement cost.

Posters (e.g. Stewig prints) - if unusable: full price.

“Professional" collection: the price of the damaged item. If it cannot be replaced: full price.

Puppets - if unusable: full price.

Realia, puzzles, educational games, etc.: the price of the damaged piece. If it cannot be replaced: full price.

Realia (hanging) bags: Current replacement cost.

"Road Show" and other kits: the price of the damaged item. If it cannot be replaced: full price.

Videos - if unusable: $15.00; each additional video in a set, $10.00.

Water/mold damage - full price.

Water - no mold - still usable - half price.

DVDs:

Lost/damaged: minimum, $22.00 each. Each additional DVD, $10.00.

Cases: Current replacement cost.

E-BOOK READER: Current replacement cost.

FINES: Fines are calculated at the rates listed below. The maximum fine charged shall not exceed the price of the material in question.

A-V equipment: $5.00 per item, per day.

Barcode from interloan item: $1.00 each.

Barcode/protector: Current replacement cost.

Bookdrop return of marked items: $1.00.

Clippings: maximum fine, .50 each.

DVDs - $1.00 per item, per day.

E-Book reader: $1.00 per day.

Interlibrary loans: $1.00 per item, per day overdue.

Interlibrary loans, non-pickup: $1.00 each.

Magazines, adult: $4.50 each.

Other overdues: $ .15 per item, per day.

Pamphlets - maximum fine, .50 each, unless actual price is available.

Professional collection: $1.00 per item, per day.

“Road Shows: $5.00 per kit, per day.

Videos - $1.00 per item, per day.

FINES OR FEES: No overdue fines are charged on children’s materials checked out on children’s cards. If $20.00 or more is owed, an individual loses borrowing privileges until the matter is resolved. Lost and damaged material fees accrued by minors are the responsibility of their parents or guardians.

INTERLIBRARY LOANS:

Fines: $1.00 per item, per day.

Lost/Damaged: Replacement costs are set by lending library.

Non-pickup fee: $1.00 per item.

Lost barcode: $1.00 each.

LOST AND DAMAGED MATERIALS:

The charge for lost materials is the current replacement cost, or the list price.

Adult new readers: $5.00 each.

Magazines, children’s: $3.00 each.

Paperback books - children's - $5.00 each.

Paperback books – YA - $7.00 each.

Paperback books - mass market - $7.00 each.

Paperback books - trade - $20.00 each.

Pamphlets - $2.50 each, unless actual price is available.

Plastic bags - Current replacement cost.

Pockets: Current replacement cost.

Realia - $5.00 minimum.

Realia (hanging) bags: Current replacement cost.

Video cases: Current replacement cost

Videos - $15.00 each.

LOST ITEMS SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND: There is a 70% refund if items are found within one year of the loss, and if they are in usable condition. Patron must have the dated receipt, or we must verify in the receipt book. Refunds of more than $20.00 must go through the library's books, with the city issuing a check. $20.00 and below may be paid in cash from the appropriate account. There may be no refund on interlibrary loan materials, as policies are determined by the lending library.

LOST LIBRARY CARDS: $5.00 each.

LOST OR STOLEN LIBRARY CARDS must be reported immediately, otherwise the cardholder is responsible for unauthorized use of the card.

MAGAZINES: Magazines, adult: $4.50 each.

Magazines, children’s: $3.00 each.

If lost/damaged AND overdue, fines are also charged.

MAPS for sale are $1.50 each. (Set by City of Muskego)

MEETING ROOMS: Free use by local non-profit groups; local businesses pay the current room-use fee. See fee schedule addendum for current rates.

MICROFORM READER/PRINTER: Printer output: 15 cents per page.

NON-RESIDENT FEE: The annual fee is calculated by dividing the library’s operating budget by the number of householders in Muskego. See fee schedule addendum for current rates.

PHOTOCOPIES: $.10 each exposure, including spoiled copies.

POSTAGE: Certified mail or other special postage fees shall be passed on to the library user.

PROCESSING FEE: Included in the uniform replacement price.

PROJECTORS: $5.00 per day overdue fine.

REALIA BAGS: Current replacement cost.

REFUNDS of more than $20.00 must go through the library's books, with the city issuing a check. $20.00 and below may be paid in cash from the appropriate account.

RETURNED CHECKS: Fees assessed the library by banks for returned checks will be passed on to the patrons involved. See Addendum for current cost.

"ROAD SHOW" KITS: Fines: $5.00 per day.

SERVICE CHARGE: Included in the uniform replacement price.

STOLEN OR LOST LIBRARY CARDS must be reported immediately, otherwise the cardholder is responsible for unauthorized use of the card. Replacement of the first card is free. Subsequent cards reported stolen will be replaced according to the current fee schedule.

TYPEWRITER use: No charge.

VIDEOS:

Fines: $1.00 per day.

Lost/damaged, minimum $15.00 each; each additional video in a set, $10.00.

Video cases: Current replacement cost.
