Woods Road Trail

At the Common Council meeting held October 25th, the City of Muskego approved a design services contract for a recreation trail to be planned and ultimately built along the north side of Woods Road, from Racine Avenue to Quietwood Creek Drive. This contract, which entails all necessary survey and design work for the Woods Road recreation trail, was awarded to Graef.

Currently, Graef is performing trail survey work and wetland delineation analysis during the month of November.

Construction is anticipated to occur in the summer of 2012, when school is out for summer. We anticipate that a preliminary design will be completed and a Public Information Meeting scheduled early this winter, prior to which, affected residents will receive a mailing informing them of the meeting date and time.

Park Arthur Project Update

In the summer and early fall of 2011, the eastern portion of Park Arthur was graded and seeded to include future active use areas like baseball fields, sledding hill, archery area and other areas like a weed tipping area, entrance road off Martin Drive, and some parking lots. It is proposed that the sledding hill will be able to be used during the 2012/2013 winter and the archery range in the fall of 2012.

Preliminary discussions have been had with Muskego baseball leagues to help with the costs to build the four baseball fields in the late summer of 2012, for 2013 use. Other planned work in 2012, is the remaining road and parking lot paving in order to accommodate all the future active use areas.

Please check back in the beginning of 2012 for Park Arthur project updates.

Also, per the city’s trail agreement lease with WeEnergies, they have determined that for safety reasons (factor IV) there are “no motorized recreational vehicles, including but not limited to snowmobiles, motor bikes, mini-bikes, motor cycles, mopeds, go-carts, and all terrain vehicles will be used, operated, or permitted on the licensed premises. Licensee/Licensor (City/WeEnergies) shall have the right to use motorized vehicles for patrol and maintenance of the right-of-way lands used for hiking, biking, and cross-county ski trails.”
