Streetscaping Details
Please find below the drawings for the Janesville Road streetscaping as designed by the City of Muskego via their consultant, Graef. The designs are the result of an effort that began with a streetscaping subcommittee back in 2008. That subcommittee determined the motif, materials, and overall density of streetscaping objects that they wanted to see along the construction route. As Waukesha County completes 60% design plans for a given phase of the reconstruction, the City is able to move forward with final completion of the streetscaping for that particular phase. Overall, you will find that the City of Muskego streetscaping will include new and exciting beautification efforts as part of the reconstruction of Janesville Road. We would like to thank the original streetscaping subcommittee that came up with the "lake modern" theme. This is the same theme that the city has recently adapted to many of the city's recent identity efforts such as the new gateway signs in the community.
- Streetscaping orientated in a way to create a sense of place with specific densities of streetscaping objects per the area and land uses along the reconstruction route
- Burying of all overhead utilities
- Addition of sidewalks along both sides of the new roadway
- Terrace and median landscaping throughout
- Landscaping providing color in all seasons from bulbs, flowering perennials and flowering trees
- Installation of hardscaping along medians and important intersections and crosswalks
- Installation of monuments designating important areas along the corridor
- Installation of ornamental lighting along with area on poles for banners, flags, and electrical installations
- Installation of various street hardware including benches, garbage cans, and bike racks
