Captain John Z. La Tour is the second in command for the City of Muskego Police Department.  Prior to being hired by the City of Muskego Police Department in January of 1985, Captain La Tour was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a correctional officer and worked in several of our state prisons.  While working in the prison system, Captain La Tour was assigned to the Emergency Response Unit, which is responsible for quelling any prison uprisings.  After becoming a certified police officer for the City of Muskego, Captain La Tour was twice assigned to the Waukesha County Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Unit where he worked as an undercover narcotics investigator.  In 1994, Captain La Tour was promoted to the position of Detective, in 1996 was promoted to the position of Patrol Sergeant and in 2003 promoted to Lieutenant.  In March of 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Captain.  During his entire tenure at the City of Muskego Police Department Captain   La Tour has been a member of the department’s S.W.A.T. team and currently holds the position of S.W.A.T. Commander.  Captain La Tour is also a certified firearms instructor and oversees the firearms program for the City of Muskego Police Department.

Captain La Tour earned a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is a 1998 graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s School of Police Staff and Command.
